Purpose: The original purpose of this cross is unknown.

Size: The length of shaft is 22 inches (0.56 metres), with a width of 9 inches (0.23 metres).

Information: This piece of cross shaft was once part of what was obviously a very fine cross.  The shaft has been chamfered on all four edges, such that each of the eight facets are 4 inches (10 centimetres) wide.  It is not known where this cross would have originally stood or what its purpose would have been.  The cross was probably badly damaged at some point, with this section of the shaft being rescued and brought into the churchyard for safekeeping.

Our thanks to Bob Noakes for bringing this piece of cross shaft to our attention and providing the photo.
