26th August 2010: Burham Farm Socket Stone
We have just received news that the socket stone at Burham Farm has gone missing. Thanks to Karen Lightowler for bringing this to our attention. Karen and her family have been visiting Dartmoor crosses when on holiday in Devon in recent years and says that the "indent where the socket stone stood is quite overgrown so presumably it was moved some time ago." If anyone has any information we would be grateful to hear from you.

2nd November 2009: Information update

16th July 2009: Another cross
A new page has been added for the cross at Hook's cross.

24th June 2009: Information updates

28th February 2009: A cross near Dunsford
A new page has been added for the remains of a cross at Two Crosses.

1st February 2009: A recently erected memorial
A page has been added for the new war memorial cross at Lydford.

28th January 2009: A new cross for 2009
A new page has been added for the incised cross on Little Mis Tor.

24th June 2004: New
A new link has been added for the Dartmoor Archive. This is a digitisation project based at Exeter University, which aims to digitally preserve Dartmoor-related photographs. It is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, The Dartmoor Trust and the Dartmoor National Park Authority.

21st February 2004: Unfinished cross
A new page has been added for the cross at Hanger Farm. Thanks to Steve and Jackie Beale for putting us on to this 'unfinished' cross.

31st January 2004: A new cross for 2004
A new page has been added for Gisperdown Cross. Thanks to Les Sutton for bringing the whereabouts of this cross head to our attention.

6th September 2003: A sad tale
The story of the tragic circumstances that led to the erection of the memorial cross at Dunnabridge Farm is told here, thanks to a contribution by Janet Palmer.

20th August 2003: We're back!
Unfortunately, our ISP decided to remove our site for a time, while they extorted more cash out of us, but now we're back and would like to thank all those visitors who emailed us with their kind compliments. 
New photographs have been added to the pages for Cornwood Cross, Ten Tors Cross and the Beatland Corner Socket Stone.

13th August 2002: New pages

5th June 2002: Information updates
Additional information, with photographs, has been added to the pages for Widgery Cross and Petre's Cross.

16th May 2002: Three more crosses?
New pages have been added for the incised cross at Riddon Ridge and the crosses at Lower Aish Farm (Poundsgate) and Laughter Tor. We have very little background information on either the purpose or the origin of these crosses, so any additional information will be welcome.

14th April 2002: Two more additions
New pages have been added for the cross at Shell Top and the cross in the porch at Ermington Church.

14th April 2002: Information found!
The following appears in the 'News from the National Park' section of the Dartmoor Magazine (issue 66):-
'A new cross base to replace the one that mysteriously disappeared near Greenwell Farm has been replicated. Using old sketches and photographs the National Park Authority's mason has cut and dressed a new base from a granite boulder supplied by Greenwell Farm.'

9th April 2002: Information needed
Can you help? We have made several unsuccessful attempts to find the socket stone at Greenwell Gert. However, the stone is well documented and details appear in almost all of our source reference books. Does anyone know where it is or what has happened to it?

7th April 2002: More socket stones

31st March 2002: Two more in the West
New pages have been added for the churchyard cross at Buckland Monachorum, and the socket stone at Burham Farm.

25th March 2002: A walk for Easter?
Our suggestion for a circular walk around a pleasant corner of West Devon, starting at the Burra Tor Reservoir. The walk includes up to 9 crosses featured on our website. So if you are able, get your boots on and give it a try - we enjoyed it ourselves, but we would appreciate your feedback. 

16th March 2002: Two additions
New pages have been added for the War Memorial cross at Bickleigh and the socket stone at Leigh Farm Lane, near Roborough.

15th March 2002: 12 Across, 2 Down
Our team's experience of the recent Dartmoor Rescue Group walk, which covered 14 crosses and part of the Monks' Path.

11th March 2002: New photographs
New photographs, with additional information have been added to the page for Shaden Moor Cross, following the recent replacement of the shaft. A new (old) photograph of Cadover Cross has also been added.

25th February 2002: Congratulations and thanks
to the Dartmoor Rescue Group - Plymouth Section, on behalf of all who took part in the 12 Across, 2 Down Walk from Venford to Princetown last Sunday 24th February. The day was very well organised and we in the Dartmoor-Crosses.org.uk team thoroughly enjoyed the walk, despite the rain and the mist. More details to follow - watch this space!

3rd May 2001: Last crosses in the West
New pages have been added for the remaining crosses from my January walk on the Western edge of Dartmoor at Blackaton; Truelove; and Urgles.

17th April 2001: More crosses in the West

11th February 2001: Dartmoor Crosses Century
At long last! The following new additions at Cholwich Town Farm and Harford brings our tally of crosses on the website to the magical 100!

PLEASE NOTE: Like everyone else, we will be staying off the moor until this dreadful Foot and Mouth outbreak is over. 
However, we still have a number of crosses that were visited and photographed during January and February which we will be adding to the site over the coming weeks. 
So, although you can't get out there to see them for yourself, we hope that you will find a 'virtual' trip to our crosses enjoyable.

19th December 2000: New Cross for the New Year
We have received exciting news about the restoration of the village cross at Peter Tavy. There will be a short ceremony at midday on 1st January 2001, following which we hope to have a photo and more information - watch this space! 

18th December 2000: Crosses at Bovey Tracey

6th December 2000: Crosses at Gidleigh & Throwleigh

29th November 2000: New Crosses in the West

29th November 2000: A Crosses Walk
The Dartmoor Rescue Group, Plymouth Section, has organised a 'Twelve Across Two Down' walk for Sunday 25th February which visits fourteen crosses on the moor. Further details and an on-line booking form can be found at the DRG website.

23rd October 2000: Another Cross
